The Wagner Named Fellowship programs at NYU are designed to recognize and reward our top students. Students with a good academic record, notable professional experience and aspirations, and a demonstrated dedication to public service with a focus on a relevant topic area are encouraged to apply. The values of the renowned individuals for whom the fellowships are named, as well as the ideals of the NYU Wagner community, are required of fellowship recipients.
Wagner announces a call for applications for the African Women Public Service Fellowship, a fellowship program made possible by a gift from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation that gives African women more opportunities to train for public service in their native countries.

The grants will cover tuition, accommodation, transport to and from the United States, and a small stipend to cover books and other other expenditures for either program.
Eligibility
Prospective applicants must meet the general admissions standards outlined above and be citizens and residents of an African country at the time of application to be considered for the Fellowship. Women with strong academic records, a demonstrated commitment to public service, and a Wagner education would significantly enhance their ability to have a deep and lasting impact on public service issues in their home country and region are given special consideration by NYU Wagner’s admissions committee.
Applicants agree to return to their home countries at the end of the program with the goal of establishing a leadership position on the continent where they can make a significant contribution to the continent’s current difficulties.

There are no special paperwork or applications required to be considered for the African Women Public Service Fellowship. All scholarships will be considered automatically, including the African Women Public Service Fellowship. Admissions applications must be submitted by the deadline in January or May.
