The West African Senior School Certificate (WAEC) is not currently accepted for entry to any bachelor’s degree programs. However, applicants with WAEC can be considered for entry to a Foundation Programmes, which provides opportunities for students to progress to a linked bachelor’s degree program.

#1. University of Sheffield
First on our list of Universities to Study Abroad In the UK with WAEC Results is The University of Sheffield. Informally known as Sheffield University, is a public research university in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.
Sheffield is formed of 50 academic departments which are organized into five faculties and an international faculty. The annual income of the institution for 2020–21 was £741 million, of which £163 million was from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £708.6 million.
Sheffield ranks among the top 10 of UK universities for research grant funding, and it has become number one in the UK for income and investment in engineering research according to new data published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).

The university gives offers of admission to 79.2% of its applicants, the 8th highest amongst the Russell Group. In the 2016–17 academic year, the university had a domicile breakdown of 76:5:18 of UK:EU:non-EU students respectively with a female to male ratio of 56:44. There are over 200 Nigerian students at the University studying undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a range of subjects.

The university has its main campus north of Canterbury situated within 300 acres (1.2 km2) of parkland, housing over 6,000 students, as well as campuses in Medway and Tonbridge in Kent and European postgraduate centers in Brussels, Athens, Rome, and Paris.
The University is international, with students from 158 different nationalities and 41% of its academic and research staff being from outside the United Kingdom. It is a member of the Santander Network of European universities encouraging social and economic development.
At Kent, they consider all applications on their individual merit. However, some departments may have slightly different entry criteria.
#4. University of Bristol

The University of Manchester is a member of the Russell Group, the N8 Group, and the worldwide Universities Research Association. This school, inclusive of its predecessor institutions, has had 25 Nobel laureates amongst its past and present students and staff, the fourth-highest number of any single university in the United Kingdom.
In 2020/21, the university had a consolidated income of £1.1 billion, of which £237.0 million was from research grants and contracts (6th place nationally behind Oxford, UCL, Cambridge, Imperial, and Edinburgh). It has the fifth-largest endowment of any university in the UK, after the universities of Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh, and King’s College London
Due to differences in education systems in Nigeria and the UK, candidates who have completed the SSCE must successfully complete a university-recognized foundation program before joining an undergraduate program.
Students who earn five high marks on the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) Level B2, including all Science, Mathematics, and English subjects, get consideration for University’s Science and Engineering with an integrated foundation year program. Queen Mary has produced many notable alumni in various fields of work and studies around the world with several alumni having become notable leaders in their respective fields including politics, heads of state, science, academia, law, history, business, technology, and diplomacy.

The West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) and the Senior School Certificate (NECO) are not currently accepted for entry to any of our bachelor’s degree programs.
However, applicants that have completed the WASSC or NECO can be considered for entry to one of our International Foundation Programmes. These provide opportunities for students to progress to a linked bachelor’s degree program one year later, providing that the foundation program is satisfactorily passed.
