The student population includes 23,155 undergraduate and 12,605 postgraduate students, which is the 7th largest in the UK (out of 169). The annual income of the university for 2020–21 was £774.1 million of which £168.3 million was from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £738.5 million.

The university has its main campus north of Canterbury situated within 300 acres (1.2 km2) of parkland, housing over 6,000 students, as well as campuses in Medway and Tonbridge in Kent and European postgraduate centers in Brussels, Athens, Rome, and Paris.

Due to differences in education systems in Nigeria and the UK, candidates who have completed the SSCE must successfully complete a university-recognized foundation program before joining an undergraduate program.
Students who earn five high marks on the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) Level B2, including all Science, Mathematics, and English subjects, get consideration for University’s Science and Engineering with an integrated foundation year program. However, applicants that have completed the WASSC or NECO can be considered for entry to one of our International Foundation Programmes. These provide opportunities for students to progress to a linked bachelor’s degree program one year later, providing that the foundation program is satisfactorily passed.
